Warren County Fire and Rescue Services is here to help in any emergency. Our trained career and volunteer professionals respond to a wide range of emergencies, including fires, motor vehicle crashes, and medical emergencies. We have the latest equipment and technology to provide prompt and efficient emergency services to the residents of

Warren County.

Special Operations

The Spcial Operations Division is responsible for the response and mitigation of low-frequency/high-risk emergencies such as swift water rescues, hazardous material leaks, and high-angle rescues. All of the personnel that respond to these incidents are also firefighters and paramedics who dedicate hundreds of additional hours in training to ensure they can respond to a wide variety of emergency situations in a safe and timely manner. ​

Training and Education

We offer a range of training and education programs for our career and volunteer staff, in addition to community courses such as first aid and CPR. The Training Division develops instruction for a wide range of topics, including firefighting, emergency medical services, and hazardous materials response. We also provide ongoing education to ensure that our personnel is up-to-date with the latest practices and technologies.

Fire Marshal's Office

The Warren County Fire Marshal's Office is dedicated to fire and life safety. The Investigations Bureau not only determines the cause of the fire but also determines ways to prevent fires from occurring in the first place. The Code Enforcement Bureau ensures compliance with the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code through education and progressive enforcement activities, including fire prevention inspections of schools, detention centers, and health care facilities, in addition to inspections of construction projects and complaint investigations. The fire marshal's office also conducts site inspections and issue permits for

fireworks and explosives.

Fire Prevention &
Community Risk Reduction

Fire and life safety education is a key part of our mission. The Fire Prevention & Community Risk Reduction Bureau offers fire safety education and training to schools, businesses, and community groups. Our fire and life safety educators can help you develop a fire safety plan and provide advice on fire prevention measures. Our community risk reduction programs include free smoke detector installations, home safety inspections, and public education campaigns.

Emergency Management

The Office of Emergency Management works closely with local, state, and federal agencies to coordinate emergency response efforts. Our emergency management team develops emergency plans and procedures, conducts drills and exercises, and provides support during disasters and other large-scale incidents.

Administrative Services

Administrative Services provides expert administrative, accounting, and budget support to the Department of Fire and Rescue and volunteer fire and rescue companies. Administrative Services is responsible for budgeting, bill payment, purchasing, research and development, records management, annual reporting, and

personnel training records.

Public Information Office

The Public Information Office is committed to informing the community about the department's emergency response efforts, training activities, fire and life safety initiatives, and prevention programs through social media, news releases, and direct outreach. The Public Information Office also collects, analyzes, and shares data to improve how we serve our community.

Office of the Fire Chief

Fire Chief James Bonzano is responsible for the overall operation and direction of the Warren County Department of Fire and Rescue Services through the implementation of the Department’s strategic plan. He ensures that the plan's objectives are proactive and consistent with the Department and County’s

mission, vision, and values. The Office of the Fire Chief consists of an assistant chief and three battalion chiefs.
